Ensuring that your teeth are healthy and able to perform their jobs is central to good oral health. However, many people find an equal amount of importance in the appearance of their smiles. Feeling confident in our smile has an impact on our social life, our careers, and our self-esteem. Here at Dentistry Done Right, we provide veneer options to allow our patients to experience a beautiful, flawless smile.

Did you know…

that dental veneers are a conservative way of completely making over your smile? In fact, veneers are a go-to cosmetic procedure that has become popular with celebrities who want a brighter and more symmetrical smile. Miley Cyrus, Hilary Duff and Ben Affleck are just some of Hollywood’s elite who have seen a cosmetic dentist for laminates. Fortunately, affordability and accessibility make it easy for anyone to get dental veneers – including patients.

Dental Veneers at Dentistry Done Right

Dental veneers are both popular cosmetic dental treatments that create a beautiful smile. Receiving veneers involves the removal of a thin layer of enamel on the dental surface. This process creates the room necessary to fit the cosmetic treatment successfully. These treatments have corrected minor misalignments, mild chipping, gapping, and asymmetry in patients’ smiles.

One significant benefit of these cosmetic enhancements is their ability to address multiple concerns simultaneously. In a single treatment, you can experience a new, flawless smile. The primary difference between these cosmetic options is the amount of enamel removed for placement.

  • Veneers are thicker and need more material removed. However, this also makes them more durable and capable of addressing a broader range of concerns.

Prime candidates for receiving veneers have otherwise healthy smiles with ample root structure. Gum disease and dental decay will need to be addressed before their placement. This is the first stage of treatment for the majority of patients. Receiving veneers is a simple process involving the following steps:

  • Once any existing gum disease and dental decay have been addressed, an impression will be taken of your teeth. These are then used to create a 3D model that will be used in the manufacture of your veneers.
  • Temporary ones will be placed between preparing your teeth and returning the finished veneers. This serves to protect the treatment area, as well as allow patients to eat normally.
  • When the lab returns the permanent veneer, the temporary one will be removed. The permanent set will be put in place, and adjustments made to ensure it’s fitted.

All steps of the procedure are generally pain-free. Some tenderness and swelling may occur. However, this discomfort is generally able to be managed with over-the-counter medication.

Frequently Asked Questions

Am I a candidate for dental veneers or laminates?

Dental veneers may be right for you if you are looking for an alternative to crowns and caps. Veneers can help you if you have gaps between your teeth or teeth that are broken, chipped, irregularly shaped or misaligned. To find out more about whether dental veneers are right for you, contact a cosmetic dentist to schedule a consultation.

What should I expect when I get my dental veneers?

Before dental veneers can be placed on the teeth, the surface of the teeth must be prepared for bonding. After administering a local anesthetic, your dentist will buff away approximately half a millimeter from the surface of the teeth. You’ll then bite into a mold that will be used to form your veneers in a dental lab. When the veneers are ready, you’ll be asked to return to have them fitted, bonded and adjusted for shape and color.

Will I need to follow any post-treatment care instructions?

There is no special care required for dental veneers, and normal brushing and flossing can be resumed immediately. Because veneers are usually placed over the course of two appointments, it is normal to experience some sensitivity between the first and second visit when the teeth have been reduced in preparation for bonding.
